Forward New Jersey chairman Tom Bracken said Monday time is running out before the transportation trust fund becomes insolvent later this year.

Bracken says some recent suggestions to pair an increase in the gas tax with a cut in other taxes are "asinine."

Bracken joined laborer union members clad in orange T-shirts and yellow high-visibility vests as well as representatives from AAA Mid-Atlantic, the New Jersey League of Municipalities and other groups.

The trust fund is set to run out of money for new projects by July 1. Christie and lawmakers have been meeting behind closed doors but no agreement has been reached.
