Greatest Dad Contest

Father’s Day is right around the corner and we are looking for New Jersey’s Greatest Dad!
Is your husband, brother, friend or co-worker a loving and attentive father? Does he coach Little League, lead the Boy Scout troop and volunteer for the local fire department while still finding time to cook dinner? We want to hear about it!
If you have the best entry you can win passes to Monmouth Park in Oceanport.
Congrats to Arlene from Basking Ridge for submitting her Dad into the contest! Enjoy your family four pack of tickets to Monmouth Park’s Clubhouse along with valet parking! Here is Arlene’s submission!
My Dad has overcome so many physical issues in the last 20 years, I call him Morris the Cat (9 lives)
20 years ago, 2 weeks before my daughter was born, Andy had a major stroke at 60 years old. He could not speak, didn’t know our names and spent 2 years of his life in major rehabilitation and since knows our names and is able to converse well. 5 years later he had another minor stroke that affected his balance and incurred weakness. Again, rehabilitated and carries on. 5 years ago, he had open heart surgery and discharged was expected within 5 days. However, while there, developed sepsis, was in a coma for 2 weeks and did not leave the hospital for a month. During the open heart, healthy veins were taken from his leg and was left with unhealthy veins, hence, bad circulation, fast forward, a leg amputation. It took another year to recover and adjust from that. The man has been brushed with death on so many occasions but he maintains the strength of no one else I know. He wakes each day wanting to go and do and refuses to just sit in a chair. He washes his car, tends to the yard and even exercises each day. He loves the excitement of Atlantic City and also horse racing and when I heard the prize involved Monmouth Park for “Greatest Dad”. It was a “no brainer”…He has 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who brighten his life in every way. I would love for you to consider this man, my Dad, the recipient of this award and prize!
thank you.
