The non-profit group OCREACH tracked a shark named "Mary Lee" to the southern New Jersey coast last week and she's been heading north ever since. Over the weekend she was off of Seaside Heights but then headed east and then north again. Tuesday morning she was east of Highlands.

The pregnant shark will likely continue her journey north. “She’s probably headed up towards Massachusetts to give birth,” Marie Levine, executive director of the Shark Research Institute at Princeton told the New York Post.

The group gets a ping from Mary Lee every time her dorsal fin surfaces.

She has been making her way north since April and traveled nearly 172 miles in the past 72 hours

Mary Lee's travels are tracked on her own Twitter account, which has over 34,000 followers.  In a recent tweet, she confessed her love for Bruce, the shark of "Jaws" fame as she looks for a suitable mate.

But Bruce is not destined to be the shark for her. "Too bad Bruce has bolts for brains," she tweeted.

She also tweeted that she is a Penguins fan. "Better flavor," she tweeted.

Mary Lee, who weighs 3,500 pounds and is 16 feet long, was tagged by OCEARCH in 2012, and is named after expedition leader, Chris Fischer's mother.

"My parents have done so much. I was waiting and waiting for a special shark to name after her," said Fischer of Mary Lee who was born off Cape Cod.
