JACKSON, N.J. (AP) -- A New Jersey roller coaster lost power partway up its 233-foot peak, forcing riders to walk down along the tracks to the ground.

The Nitro coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson was shut down after Friday afternoon's outage. No one was hurt.

A park spokeswoman tells the Asbury Park Press that Nitro's computer system stopped the ride as designed. She says all the passengers were off the ride in 23 minutes.

The ride reopened less than an hour later after safety checks.

According to the park's website, Nitro hits speeds up to 80 mph and features a 540-degree helix spiral and a 215-foot drop.
