The event, which was really a fundraiser for the New Jersey Republican Party, gave Christie the opportunity to share the stage with Mitt Romney and expand his comments on foreign policy, while bringing in a ton of money for the GOP coffers.

The governor talked about Russia, Iraq, Syria, Mexico and the threat from ISIS as he and Romney ripped President Obama over his foreign and domestic policies.

"It's extraordinary that we have a president who doesn't know what to do," Romney said. "I've got to tell you, I'm proud to be on stage with a man who knows what to do."

Christie quickly returned the praise to Romney.

"All I have to say is this, wouldn't our country be a hell of a better place if this man was our president of the United States?"

You may remember that Christie stumped for Romney multiple times during his failed 2012 presidential campaign.

While Romney stopped just short of endorsing Christie for a 2016 White House run, the strong support certainly gives the governor a big boost as he moves forward with the process.

The state GOP projected that last night's event raised more than $600,000.
