Kaci Hickox, the nurse who treated Ebola patients in West Africa and then wound up under mandatory quarantine in New Jersey, broke another quarantine in Maine Wednesday night when she spoke to reporters in her driveway.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is wishing the nurse well as she prepares to challenge law enforcement, but he continues to defend the Garden State's mandatory quarantine policy, which he says will remain in effect.

"We're happy. New Jersey is proud to lead on this, to lead in the area of common sense, that's what we're doing," Christie said. "We're not changing. I don't care what happens. We are not changing our policy. This is our policy; it will be our policy as long as this crisis is going on."

The governor said there's a lot of divided medical advice being disseminated about Ebola.

"Now you have the Centers for Disease Control saying today (Wednesday) that people can get Ebola from sneezing -- this is something they told us before wasn't possible," Christie said. "But the one thing that we know for sure is that the CDC and the White House have been behind on this. The president and the White House and the CDC don't want to admit that Governor Cuomo and I were right and they were wrong, and we have medical backup for this."

Christie said New Jersey's Ebola quarantine policy is simple and straightforward.

"If you've been a health care worker who's been directly exposed to the virus, an active virus, and you come back to the U.S., you should quarantine for 21 days," he said. "If it's good enough for our men and women in uniform who are going to West Africa to help people, then every health care worker should have to comply with the same thing."

The governor also said other governors, Republican and Democrat alike, have started taking the same steps that New Jersey and New York have, and he predicted the CDC will soon follow suit.
