Gov. Chris Christie has selected former Senator and former State Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa to lead the state's takeover of Atlantic City.

The Press of Atlantic City reports Chiesa has been named the Local Government Service director and will have vast powers over the city's finances, including the ability to hire or fire workers and sell city assets for the next five years.

In an exclusive interview this morning with Harry Hurley on WPG Talk Radio 104.1, Gov. Christie spoke of his decision to put Chiesa in charge.

Christie said Chiesa, "cares about getting the City of Atlantic City back on track, in working with the people of Atlantic City, and the leaders of Atlantic City to get the hard things done." Christie went on to say there is no limit to Atlantic City's future if difficult decisions are made now.
