The Macomb County Republican Party said Monday that the New Jersey governor will be the keynote speaker at its annual Lincoln Dinner fundraiser. It's scheduled for March 27 at the Palazzo Grande Banquet and Event Center in the Detroit suburb of Shelby Township.

County GOP chairwoman Linda Torp says in a statement that her party is " honored that one of the presidential front-runners ... has chosen Macomb County for one of his first visits to Michigan as he considers a run for the nomination.

Christie is speaking in Concord, New Hampshire, on Monday. He recently delivered speeches in Illinois and in Iowa, another early state in the presidential nominating process.
