Seasonable high temperatures in the mid 60s and copious sunshine will make for a nice Thursday, but some big changes are in the forecast for New Jersey.

Here are your weather headlines for Thursday, October 15, 2015:

Cool a.m., Pleasant p.m.

Temperatures on this Thursday morning fell into the 40s for the vast majority of the Garden State, with a few 30s in the coolest spots. Following this cool, crisp, refreshing start to the day, thermometers will warm to the mid 60s by this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Light winds and dry weather will also contribute to a gorgeous autumn day overall.

Showers Tonight, Tomorrow

After midnight tonight, a weak front will push toward New Jersey. And so we have to add a chance of rain through Friday morning. That rain looks to stay light, and rainfall totals should remain low. By Friday afternoon, I am hoping some breaks of sun will appear in the sky, helping temperatures into the upper 60s for one more day. It will become a bit breezy as well, to about 20 mph.

Windy, Chilly Weekend

It's about that time of year, when successive cold fronts knock back temperatures from the "oh, what beautiful fall weather" to "wow, I'm not ready for this cold!" Wednesday was cooler than Tuesday, and Thursday is expected to be cooler than Wednesday. But those drops pale in comparison to the temperature tumble coming this weekend.

A brisk northwest wind will kick up on Saturday, sustained at 10 to 20 mph and potentially gusting as high as 40 mph. That will carry much cooler air into New Jersey, and make for a blustery weekend overall. Highs on Saturday will struggle to make to 60°, despite mostly to partly sunny skies.

Sunday morning will bring widespread temperatures in the 30s. This could result in our first widespread frost of the season, which can occur when the temperature falls to about 37° A light freeze will be possible Sunday morning in the higher elevations of North Jersey as temperatures fall into the lower 30s.

Sunday afternoon will only warm to around the 50-degree mark, making it feel much more like a normal late November day.

Finally, putting the icing on this chilly weekend weather cake will be a weak disturbance that is predicted to pass over New Jersey Sunday evening (around 8 p.m.) A few sprinkles will be possible. And, IF temperatures fall quickly enough, a few snow flurries will be possible too (especially in North Jersey). I can't believe I just typed the "s" word for the first time this season.

Have a happy 101.5 Day! (Get it?! Check the date.)
