NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Adopt Biff and Buzz

Biff and Buzz are two black, velvet teenage kittens from a litter of three. Biff and Buzz are handsome, playful boys. Buzz is polydactyl, which means he has six toes on his front paws. They are gentle and love attention. Biff and Buzz cannot understand why no one has adopted them yet, but they know people can be silly about black cats sometimes. In Asia, black cats symbolize good luck. Biff and Buzz promise that they will bring you nothing but good luck if you take them home! They are FIV and FeLv negative, neutered and vaccinated.

If you're interested in meeting Biff and Buzz or fostering/adopting them, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Glen

What a story! This charmer was spotted running repeatedly in the Glen Afton section of West Trenton for about a week. The entire neighborhood was on the lookout for him, and named him Glen. Trenton Animal Control Officers had been out several times and made efforts to catch him, but he was too quick. They were finally able to catch him after he was hit by a car on Route 29. Glen was taken to a vet for a broken leg and various scrapes and bruises. The neighbors, animal control officers and vets all agreed that Glen was a wonderful, friendly dog who deserved to be saved.

Glen is now happy and safe in his foster home while he recovers. He lives with two dogs as companions and fits right in. Despite his injury, Glen is pretty quick on three legs and he even got loose in the neighborhood again before coming back! He should make a full recovery and will be looking for a new home. We think he is a Shepherd/Pit Bull mix who is about 5 years old.

Glen’s fosters say that he is doing great. No problems with their dogs, no chasing the cats, super-friendly to everyone and well mannered. Glen is pretty convinced that he’s a lap dog, too!

If you’re interested in learning more about Glen or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Nico

Nico is a very sweet female Chihuahua mix. Her elderly owner is moving to senior housing where unfortunately and very reluctantly, she cannot take her best friend with her. Nico’s owner is hoping that someone will find it in their heart to open their home to this wonderful girl. She is very sweet, likes to cuddle, very playful and is good with other dogs. Nico is about 8 years old, approximately 15 to 20 pounds, house-broken and crate trained. She is up-to-date with her rabies shot and is spayed. Nico is temporarily living in a foster home with another dog until a permanent loving home can be found for her.

If you're interested in meeting Nico or fostering/adopting her, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Beth is an adult dilute calico kitty. What she really loves in life is to cuddle and be petted. In fact, Beth will come right up to you, and honestly, you won’t be able to resist giving her rubs. She's such a friendly kitty that some EASEL volunteers call her the "darling of the shelter."

To schedule a visit to meet Beth, please email kitty@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. You can find more of EASEL’s adoptable cats and kittens here, or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
