Girl in beauty pageant punching incident charged
The 17-year-old girl allegedly slugged by a Millville Senior High School football player has also been charged in the incident.
The unidentified girl has been charged with simple assault according to the Daily Journal, which reports she suffered an injury to her nose.The Press of Atlantic City reports the girl landed the first blow before Rob Ennis hit back on stage at the completion of the Miss Holly City pageant.
"Through information given from witnesses and individuals at the school, that's how she was charged," Vineland Police Detective Jody Farabella explained to the Daily Journal adding, "Every witness we spoke to said they were friends."
Ennis was identified by his uncle David, a Millville city commissioner, as being charged in the incident. Police have not officially identified either individual because they are minors.
Rob, who has committed to play at Purdue next season, sat out last Friday night's game but the Thunderbolts coach would not elaborate on his decision.
