A female reticulated giraffe was born at the park on Oct. 11, the ninth's giraffe born at the park according to a press release.  The park says Mika stood within an hour of her birth and measured 5-feet, 10-inches tall.

The calf was the first for her mother, Noel. “Noel is a great mom,” said Jason Holloway, a safari supervisor who oversees the giraffe herd. “She began nursing right away. Mika is healthy and doing very well.” Mika ventured outside the barn for the first time last Tuesday.

Noel was born at the Park in 2001; Mika's grandmother named Georgia is a longtime resident of the Safari having been at the Ocean County park since 1993.

Customers will be able to see Mika at the safari on Saturday and Sunday.
