Road work could cause a long ride home for Giants fans headed home from Sunday's  home opener at MetLife Stadium via the Lincoln Tunnel.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation said repair to a collapsed expansion joint on Route 495 East just before the area where the highway crosses over Routes 1 and 9 will close two right lanes from Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 4 a.m.

The work will also take out a lane on the ramps from Route 3 East and the New Jersey Turnpike to Route 495 East, according to the NJ DOT.

New Jersey Fast Traffic's Bob Williams suggests the Holland Tunnel and George Washington Bridge for those heading east as an alternate to the Lincoln Tunnel.

"Route 3 east will probably back up heading towards the Turnpike after the game so you might want to take the Parkway if you are headed south," Williams said.
