Although the NFL has no problem with teams, such as the Giants, using drones to film practice, the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating several recent cases.

Bloomberg News reports that the Giants, Cowboys, and Patriots could face fines for failing to obtain the proper authorizations to fly the unmanned aircraft.

It is a growing trend around the league to use drones to film practice, which allows coaches to see things from a different vantage point.

The Giants tried out the advancing technology for the first time during a June 17 mini-camp practice.

It caught the attention of the FAA since the team did not receive the proper clearance. The Giants practice field is in the flight path of nearby Teterboro Airport.

Generally, though, these cases do not result in serious punishment. The NFL does not have a formal drone policy in place.
