It looks like New Jersey will see one nice day on this first weekend of June, but a sunny Saturday is going to be book-ended by a dreary Friday and Sunday.

For Friday, intermittent showers dominate the forecast, with the chance of a rumble of thunder sometime this afternoon. That's nothing compared to how Sunday is shaping up -- but more on that later. Temperatures on Friday will range from the mid-60s at the Jersey Shore to the mid-70s inland. Some light wind is also possible.

Any rain will end Friday evening, at which point fog rolls in and becomes dense in spots overnight. Cloud cover remains, with lows in the lower to mid-60s.

The fog lifts on Saturday morning, clearing the way for mostly sunny skies and temperatures getting up into the mid-80s inland. Highs will top out in the mid-70s at the shore on Saturday.

On Sunday, rain is expected all day. That includes some strong thunderstorms that will mix in, and possibly even some severe weather associated with that. Temperatures across the state should stabilize in the mid-70s.

For the start of the work week, though, skies are going to clear up once more. Monday appears to be, at least right now, an even sunnier repeat of Saturday, with highs again reaching the mid-80s away from the coastline.
