George Zimmerman was released from the Seminole County Jail around midnight Sunday. He wore a brown jacket and blue jeans and carried a paper bag. Zimmerman didn't look in the direction of photographers waiting to record his release on $150,000 bail.

Two squad cars blocked access to the intake building parking lot where Zimmerman was being released. Two public information officers checked the credentials of the waiting photographers.

Zimmerman rode in the car of the man who accompanied him. Authorities aren't talking about his whereabouts. His destination is being kept secret for his safety.

Zimmerman says he shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in self-defense. The case sparked national outrage and led to many demonstrations.
