US Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (SFRC) will join a Committee hearing tomorrow on Sudan and South Sudan Independence and Insecurity at 10am tomorrow. Actor George Clooney is among those scheduled to testify.

Witnesses will include activists/NGO representatives, including Clooney as Co-founder of the Satellite Sentinel Project, as well as Department of State and USAID government officials with jurisdiction over this issue.

Menendez says he will question panelists on the Satellite Sentinel Project which uncovers threats to civilians using satellite imagery; the ongoing oil dispute between the two countries; persistent security threats posed by armed insurgencies in Darfur and the Lord’s Resistance Army in South Sudan; and U.S. priorities in the region going forward.
