Gas Rationing Will Continue [AUDIO]

As more areas of the state have power restored, more gas stations are back in business. In turn, there have been shorter or no lines at the pumps. At a Sandy recovery briefing in Keansburg, though, Governor Chris Christie said the odd-even gas rationing will stay in effect for the next couple of days.

“I don’t want to get rid of (rationing) too quickly and have the lines come back,” Christie told reporters.

He said the rationing cuts down on the lines that still exist, as well as the chance for violence on those lines.

Christie joked, “New Jerseyans are still uptight, and I don’t blame them, so I don’t want to give them any reason to get more angry.”

The Governor said the rationing system will be evaluated in the next day or so, and he will take into consideration the potential nor’easter later this week.

“People can put up with odd-even for another couple of days,” said Christie.
