An off-duty Garfield police officer has been accused of driving at twice the legal alcohol limit when he crashed his car into a pole Saturday, authorities said.

Anthony Cureton, Bergen County sheriff spokesman, told New Jersey 101.5 Sebastian Tyburski, 26, was found to have a blood alcohol level of .16 percent after the crash near Market Street and Midland Avenue in Elmwood Park

After hitting the pole, his car reversed into a patrol vehicle, Cureton said. The spokesman said he wasn't sure if Tyburski put the car in reverse. Damage to the patrol car was minimal, he said.

NJ.com reports Tyburski has been on the job for four years, and no disciplinary action has yet been taken while Garfield conducts an internal investigation.
