Garden State Film Festival Moves to New Home [AUDIO]

It spent ten years in the City by the Sea, but now, The Garden State Film Festival is rolling up their red carpet, and moving heading to America’s Favorite Playground.

Beginning this April, the festival will move from Asbury Park to Atlantic City. The festival will be held at several AC venues, including the Tropicana Casino Hotel and Resorts.

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) is providing $300,000 over three years in an effort to increase tourism in the off season in a city that desperately needs to attract visitors.

Festival organizers became concerned that their venues in Asbury would be closed because of a disagreement between the city and Madison Marquette over the state of the Paramount Theater.

“The possibilities are endless because Atlantic City offers limitless venues and a local airport,” Festival founder and director Diane Raver said. “We are so excited about everything. This could help bridge the gap and bring in more people and celebrities while showcasing the art of filmmaking.”

The 2014 film festival is scheduled to take place April 4 to April 6.

Past atendees include the late James Gandolfini, Glenn Close, Paul Sorvino and Diane Ladd.
