Class A North

No. 2 Manalapan 56, Howell 7

The Braves (8-0, 5-0) clinched a tie for their fourth straight Class A North title by routing the Rebels (3-5, 2-3), as senior wideout Saeed Blacknall had a pair of touchdown catches and junior Dan Debner had a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for his fourth touchdown return of the season.

Senior tailback Tyler Leonetti ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns, and Imamu Mayfield, Chris Noesges and John Cheung each added rushing touchdowns as the Braves rolled up 250 yards on the ground.

Middletown North 33, Freehold Township 0

The Lions (3-5, 3-2) clinched a spot in Central Jersey Group IV for their first state playoff berth since 2009, as sophomore running back Chad Freshnock ran for two touchdowns and had a 47-yard touchdown catch on a screen pass while the defense posted its first shutout since 2009.

Freshman quarterback Donald Glenn threw a pair of touchdown passes, including one to senior wideout Jake Betkowski.

No. 6 Colts Neck 27, No. 8 Middletown South 21 (OT)

A 2-yard touchdown run by senior tailback Anthony Gargiulo in overtime gave the Cougars (7-1, 4-1) the win over the Eagles (4-4, 3-2) and most likely secured a top-three seed in the Central Jersey Group IV playoffs.

The Eagles sent the game into overtime thanks to a 16-yard interception return for a touchdown by senior defensive lineman Conner Spreen in the third quarter to tie it at 21.

Gargiulo also had a 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and Dan Calabro had a big game with a 71-yard interception return for a touchdown and a 75-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Christian Sanchez that gave Colts Neck a 21-7 lead in the second quarter.

Jeremy Concepcion had touchdown runs of 2 and 1 yards for Middletown South that cut Colts Neck’s lead to 21-14 at the half.

Class A Central

No. 4 Rumson-FH 22, No. 5 Manasquan 15

A 1-yard touchdown run by fullback Dylan Zohn on fourth-and-goal with 54 seconds left in the game snapped a 15-15 tie and sent the Bulldogs (8-0, 5-0) to a thrilling win over the Warriors (6-2, 4-2) that unofficially locked up the No. 1 seed in Central Jersey Group II for Rumson.

Rumson’s game-winning drive was set up by a fumble recovery by senior Sam Shaud at Manasquan’s 9-yard line after the Bulldogs had missed a 26-yard field goal attempt at the end of a drive that consumed 10 minutes. Junior tailback Charlie Volker ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns in the win, while the defense shut out the Warriors in the second half.

Manasquan took a 15-7 lead at halftime, becoming the first team to score more than one touchdown against Rumson all season. Senior quarterback Tucker Caccavale threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to junior tight end Tanner Cowley and a 30-yard touchdown pass to senior wideout Joe Fittin.

Class A South

No. 10 Toms River South 38, Toms River North 7

Khaleel Greene ran for a pair of scores, Russell Messler had a fumble return for a touchdown and a field goal, and quarterback Tymere Berry ran for one score and threw a touchdown pass to Darrius Hart as the Indians (6-2, 5-2) beat the Mariners (0-8, 0-6) for the first time in 11 years.

No. 7 Jackson Memorial 9, No. 9 Brick 7

Senior tailback Khani Glover had a 26-yard touchdown run and Jared Calhoun booted a 26-yard field goal as the Jaguars (6-2, 6-1) built a 9-0 lead and held on to beat the Green Dragons (6-3, 5-2) to clinch the Class A South title, their first division title since 2005.

Junior running back Ray Fattaruso had 103 yards rushing and a touchdown in the loss for Brick.

Class B North

Neptune 17, Wall 14

Quarterback Shakeem Richardson had a 1-yard touchdown run, Hunter Daly booted a field goal, and Myles Mooney had a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown that proved to be the difference as the Scarlet Fliers (4-4, 3-3) built a 17-7 lead and held off the Crimson Knights (3-5, 2-4) to clinch a playoff spot in Central Jersey Group IV.

Tight end Paul Calamaras had a 35-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Jack Gifford that cut it to 10-7, and senior tailback Pete Miceli scored on a 53-yard screen pass from Gifford with 44 seconds left to make it 17-14 before Neptune recovered the onside kick to win it.

Class B Central

Asbury Park 30, Keansburg 0

Senior quarterback Robert Barksdale ran for 80 yards and two touchdowns and also threw for 81 yards, and the defense limited Keansburg to 107 yards as the Blue Bishops (6-2, 3-2) blanked the Titans (1-8, 0-5).

Sophomore Charles Sanders ran for 93 yards on 7 carries, including a 41-yard touchdown run, senior Daquane Bland-Bennett added a 51-yard touchdown run, and junior Tyquis Davis had a 60-yard touchdown run in the win. Davis also had two sacks to add to his Shore Conference-leading total and give him 14 on the season. Senior linebacker Williams Wells had a team-high 12 tackles.

Shore 35, Keyport 7

The Blue Devils (7-1, 4-0) won their seventh straight game and unofficially secured the No. 1 seed in Central Jersey Group I as senior Brian Miller and sophomore Doug Goldsmith each ran for a pair of scores and James Murphy added another in the win over the Red Raiders (5-4, 2-3).

Class B South

Msgr. Donovan 28, Jackson Liberty 25

Senior quarterback Vinny Grasso had touchdown runs of 48 and 43 yards, Joey Fields added a 2-yard touchdown run, and David Calderon had a 77-yard touchdown run as the Griffins (4-4, 4-2) held on to beat the Lions (3-5, 3-4).

John Veneziano threw a pair of touchdown passes for Jackson Liberty, including a 13-yard strike to Tyler Pinto that helped cut it to 28-25 with 3:27 left in the game.

Point Boro 19, Lakewood 18

The previously winless Panthers (1-8, 1-6) stunned the Piners (5-3, 4-2) as quarterback Jack Fitzsimmons ran for a 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Collin Ansbach’s extra point proved to be the difference.

Fitzsimmons also had a 33-yard touchdown run in the win.

Manchester 18, Central 13

Shaquille Benjamin ran for two touchdowns, including a 10-yarder with two minutes left in the third quarter that made it 18-6, as the Hawks (3-5, 3-3) upset the Golden Eagles (5-3, 5-2) to deny them a chance to win their first division title since 1994.

The win unofficially qualifies Manchester for the South Jersey Group III playoffs, while also giving Barnegat at least a tie for the Class B South title. Barnegat can win it outright by beating Pinelands on Thanksgiving.

Nondivisional

Barnegat 17, Red Bank 6

Ryan Ulrich booted a career-long 37-yard field goal, quarterback Cinjun Erskine had a 4-yard touchdown run, and junior Tyler McGuinness added a 12-yard score as the Bengals (7-1) built a 17-0 lead on their way to tying the school record for wins by beating the Bucs (1-7).
