Bob Heugle, foundation president, describes the event as "a night of joy, happiness and smiles, one night of compassion and inspiration" for the kids and their families who deal year-round with the complications and sadness cancer can present.

"One guest last year smiled when she said she never cried and laughed so hard at the same time," says Heugle.

At last year's event, which raised an estimated $120,000 for the cause, the "young warriors" were individually welcomed on stage by their favorite songs.

The Frances Foundation has been delivering smiles, comfort and assistance for close to a decade. Earlier this year, among countless acts by the foundation, a family who lost their eight-year-old son was sent on a healing trip to Disney World. This weekend, a young boy and his family will be transported by limo to see The Lion King on Broadway.

Heugle adds, "We bring desperately needed funds to the parents who are sweating over how to pay their routine bills because of the devil known as cancer."

The gala begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch. The black-tie optional event features gift basket raffles, a silent auction, and a 50/50. Every penny donated goes to the kids with cancer and their families. The last date to RSVP is October 17th; contact info is available at the foundation's web site.

The entry fee per person is $150, which includes open bar until midnight, cocktail hour, sit-down dinner and live entertainment.
