Homework tonight before tonight’s “Late Show”!

According to this report, an unfortunate scene unfolded in Arlington tonight as a pair of Rangers fans caught a foul ball tossed into the stands by Mitch Moreland in the eighth inning of Rangers-Yankees, then refused to give the ball to the toddler sitting next to them—instead choosing to pose for pictures and generally behave like douchebags.

Yankees play-by-play man Michael Kay—capturing the thoughts of America for probably the first time ever—chided the couple for "rubbing it in the kid's face," and since this couple deserves to be publicly shamed for being dicks to a little kid, here they are.

Someone else eventually gave the kid a ball, and Michael Kay continued his rant about the "oblivious couple making out next to him"

See the video of the event:

The other night I talked about how, in life, things aren’t always fair.

Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose!

If you remember, I played an excerpt from the Mary Chapin Carpenter song, “The Bug”, with the refrain, “…sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug, sometimes it all comes together baby, sometimes you’re a loser in love!”

With that in mind, watching the video, do you feel that the woman who eventually got the ball; upon seeing the kid cry, should have given it to him; or do as she did…which is, stick it in his face and keep it for herself.

No one wants to give into a crying kid.

When our kid cried, we never did. If she lost a gymnastic competition or a singing competition, she had to cry it out.

It’s all a part of life!

But is this the appropriate venue to learn that lesson?

Impulse would have made me give the kid the ball.

This could have been his first game, and he was there to have FUN!
Not compete!

Nor to have an adult stick the coveted ball in his face and teach him a "lesson!"

Thankfully the kids’ parents didn’t intervene. How “old school” of them!
