BYRAM — A former president of the Essex County Sheriff's Officers PBA is facing charges after allegedly using his union credit card to pay for repairs on his personal vehicle.

Christopher Tyminski, 45, of Byram, who was president of the union's Local 183, was charged with theft by deception for charging $14,535 worth of repairs on the card, according to Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray. Murray added that none of the allegations involve his official capacity in the sheriff's department.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Professional Standards and Corruption Bureau at 1-862-520-3700.
