Florence Basketball Coach Steps Down After Hazing Incident
A New Jersey high school baseball coach is stepping down following a hazing incident in which a player was bitten by teammates.
The Florence Board of Education approved Jopeph Frappolli Jr.'s leave from the coaching job at its meeting Monday. He will remain a teacher at a district elementary school.
The Times of Trenton reports that four players were suspended after a March hazing ritual in which a student was held down and bitten by others.
School district lawyer Carmen Saginario says that a similar incident earlier in March was uncovered during the investigation. He says it was part of a "hazing tradition."
School officials have not given details on the rituals.
A new anti-hazing policy has now been implemented in the school district south of Trenton.
