It's not yet clear what sparked the fire at the Twinbrook Village Apartments in Ocean Township. The blaze was reported around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and burned for most of the afternoon.

Several other apartments at the complex sustained some damage, as heavy flames and thick, black smoke could be seen shooting out of several buildings. Residents of the complex were evacuated as a precaution, and some were being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Authorities told the Asbury Park Press that two police officers were treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation, while a firefighter was treated for a facial injury. But none of the injuries were considered serious.
