Wallington Fire Commissioner Mark Tomko tells WNBC-TV that 57-year-old Gregory Barnas died early Friday morning.

The commissioner says Barnas was cutting a hole in the roof of the restaurant and fell.

He is a 29-year veteran at the Jersey City Fire Department and a volunteer at the department in Wallington.

The commissioner says both of the fallen firefighters' sons are also firefighters. Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli tells The Associated Press that both sons were on the scene at Akaska Japanese restaurant.

Molinelli says the fire is being investigated but that it does not appear suspicious.
