The fire broke out in a home on Berkeley Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say a passer-by banged on the door, but got no response.“When we arrived, we found the building was completely sealed up and the companies forced the front door in and went inside to attack the fire,” Orange Fire Director Michael Down told CBS New York. “Unfortunately, they found two victims.”

The dead are identified as Tanji Dewberry, the author of the children's book "Oh Fiddlesticks" and her son, Evan Soler according to NBC 4 New York. Friend Kenna Baudi says she used Evan's ADHD diagnosis as the basis for the book.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
