Firefighters rushed into a burning garage Sunday night to rescue a Hamilton man who was unable to escape after the blaze began, NJ Advance Media has reported.

The fire was reported at about 5 p.m. on Tar Heels Road in the University Heights section of Hamilton township, NJ Advance Media states. The victim, was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton for smoke inhalations and burns he suffered as a result of the fire. The victim's mother was also transported to a hospital for medical attention.

The exact cause of the blaze has not yet been determined, but firefighters told NJ Advance Media, it appears the victim - whose name has not been released - drove his vehicle in to the garage where he had some type of medical issue, while the car was still running.
