If you don’t prosecute something, then is it really a crime? While that sentence might sound odd, it's a loophole that will allow sports betting in New Jersey.

Governor Christie has told New Jersey casinos that they could take sports bets on all teams except those that play in New Jersey (Giants, Jets, Rutgers, etc.) without fear of civil or criminal from Trenton.

While Trenton has lost attempts to legalize Sports betting in New Jersey, they believe they have found a loophole that will allow it. While the state can’t sanction and regulate sports gambling, The Governor’s team believes a federal court has given New Jersey the OK to simply not prosecute it, according to officials. The appellate court has slated a hearing for October to clarify its position. In the meantime, at least we have sports betting for a month.

Now we wait to see what the leagues have to say. Why shouldn't we get some of the sports betting money that’s been moving through New Jersey since the state began. The National Football League is so hypocritical about sports betting, that it releases injury reports and encourages fantasy leagues. Ask yourself this, Would the NFL be as popular without sports betting? Would any league? Perhaps if the NFL embraced sports betting - as in find a way to make money on it, we could all make money. For example, they can take a similar approach to how they handle lottery tickets.
