Ferocious storm dumps massive snow on upstate New York: First News Wednesday

A ferocious storm has dumped massive piles of snow on parts of upstate New York, trapping residents in their homes and leaving motorists stranded on roadways. In the Buffalo area, snow totals could top 6 feet by this afternoon. The storm is being blamed for at least four deaths in upstate New York.
A fiery crash involving three tractor trailers on the turnpike in Cranbury last night. At least one person is dead. It happened on the northbound side near exit 8. The lanes remain closed this hour as the investigation continues.
A large part of the historic farmer's market in Burlington County is a pile of ash this morning. One of the main buildings, the big red barn, burned to the ground at the Columbus farmers market Tuesday. Twice before, fire has hit Columbus in 1968 and 1972. Both times it was rebuilt. The owners say it’s too soon to talk about the future.

Jewish worshipers are returning to a Jerusalem synagogue where five people were killed during an attack by two Palestinian men on Tuesday. Three Americans are among the dead, including a Rabbi Moshe Twersky, who used to live in Lakewood. His son flew to Israel for the funeral Tuesday.

A Hunterdon county family is trying to figure out who killed their dog, Dallas. The 2 1/2 year old pitbull took off after a deer earlier this month. A hiker found the dog's body at the bottom of a ravine. Dallas had been shot. The ASPCA is asking anyone who knows anything to contact them.

We told you about the guy who hit a pedestrian in South Jersey, then kept going with the victim lodged in his windshield. The victim, 61-year old Kenneth Moeller, has died. That likely means more serious charges for 33-year old Marcos Ortega who has been jailed since his arrest in ocean township.
The Sayreville school board has reinstated four assistant football coaches, clearing them to teach classes. They were suspended amid the sexual hazing scandal. Head coach George Najjar remains suspended. He may have violated the state's anti-bullying laws by not coming forward as soon as he knew of a problem.
With Jersey's heroin epidemic continuing to get worse, a growing number of heroin overdose victims of all ages, wind up in hospital emergency rooms and some of them are repeat "customers".

Netflix is postponing Bill Cosby's upcoming standup comedy special. The decision follows a growing number of allegations that the famed entertainer sexually assaulted women. Cosby's special "Bill Cosby 77" was to premiere Nov. 27.

Union workers for the Turnpike and Parkway have agreed to big concessions, including pay cuts of up to 12-thousand dollars per year, in exchange for no privatization. In all, the unions have agreed to 17-million in givebacks, mostly through wage cuts.
Hundreds of Atlantic City casino workers are expected to rally this morning at the Taj Mahal, slated to close December 12th. Carl Ichan has vowed to invest 100-million into the Taj but only if union workers surrender their pensions and health benefits.

A grisly story is being pieced together about the death of Cooper CEO John Sheridan and his wife, Joyce. They were found in their burning home in September. A close relative is being quoted saying Joyce was the victim of a savage and rageful stabbing. The Somerset County prosecutor is not commenting.

Police in New York City have arrested a man for allegedly pushing another man off a subway platform in the Bronx Sunday and into the path of an oncoming train that killed him. Police say 34-year-old Kevin Darden has a history of robbery and assault arrests. He's suspected of pushing another man on a platform at another subway station earlier this month, that man sustained minor injuries.

Two North Jersey college students are charged with sexual assault after taking advantage of a drunk girl at a frat party. The victim says she woke up naked and disoriented in a Ramapo college dorm room and went to the hospital. Police arrested the two students a short time later and found video and photos of the sex acts on one of their phones.
About two-and-a-half million kids across the nation were homeless at some point last year, according to a new report. This is a record high amount, affecting one in every 30 children.
