The agency says its Transitional Sheltering Assistance program is being extended until Dec. 13. It was previously set to expire Thursday.

As of Wednesday, there were more than 2,800 households in the program. FEMA says it's calling those who are eligible about the extension.

The agency is trying to get the survivors into temporary rental homes or permanent housing soon.
