Federal Funding Coming To Newark Airport

Senators Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) announced more than $6 million in federal funding for the Port Authority of NY/NJ to rehabilitate taxiways at Newark Liberty International Airport and $114,000 for improvements at Lincoln Park Airport.  

The funding, through the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), comes one week after Lautenberg and Menendez announced $18.6 million for runway rehabilitation and safety improvements at other New Jersey airports.

“New Jersey's economy relies on a safe, efficient transportation system, and this federal funding will keep Newark airport running smoothly,” said Lautenberg, a member of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, which funds DOT.  “These runway improvements will keep passengers safe and help New Jersey businesses that use our airports every day.”

“This funding will help ensure Newark International has the resources it needs to run efficiently and provide travelers with the quality service they deserve,” said Senator Menendez. “Our airports are important drivers of our local economy and with this investment we are helping ensure New Jersey remains competitive.”

The following New Jersey airports will receive DOT grants:

Newark Liberty International Airport - $6,017,580 to rehabilitate existing taxiway pavement.

Lincoln Park Airport - $114,000 to rehabilitate existing taxiway pavement.
