The Coast Guard said in a news release late Tuesday that a boat crew located the wreckage approximately 2 miles northeast of Fort Lauderdale International Airport, the plane's departure point.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said in an email that the Mexican-registered Learjet 35 was en route to Cozumel, Mexico, with four people on board, including two pilots. She says the plane went down about 8:15 p.m.
