A 13-year-old girl and her grandmother were injured after two family dogs attacked them Saturday, MyCentralJersey.com reports.

The altercation started as a scuffle among family dogs, according to the report. Police reportedly saida  boxer and pit bull went after the family's third pet, a pug. When the teenage girl tried to break up the dogs, the boxer and pit bull attacked her instead — leaving her with at least 20 puncture wounds The grandmother tried to intervene and wound up with a head laceration, police reportedly said.

Animal control officers took custody of the boxer and pit bull, and the teen and grandmother were admitted to a hospital for their injuries, according to the report.
