The estate of Alexa Strittmatter filed a tort notice against the city of Vineland, its board of education and the county for the teen's Oct. 30 death.

The South Jersey Times reports that the notice was filed one day before the legal deadline.

Authorities say the 14-year-old died in the hospital after first being struck by a northbound car, then moments later by a southbound vehicle.

The incident happened as she was walking to her bus stop near her family's home.

Vineland officials said after her death that they would review school bus routes and street signs.
