READINGTON — A commercial utility pole across the tracks Wednesday afternoon suspended part of NJ Transit's Raritan Valley Line.

Service was suspended just before the start of the afternoon commute between Raritan and White House in both directions because of the pole along the tracks in Readington. A bus shuttle was being provided between the two with a train shuttle running between White House and the end of the line in High Bridge.

One person was on board a commuter train on the track right at the fallen pole who was taken off, according to NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder.

Snyder said the suspension would likely be in place for the entire afternoon commute.

JCP&L spokesman Ron Morano said crews are making repairs but did not know how long they would take to complete.
