Watching the healthcare debate last week was a lot like watching a Pee-Wee Herman movie, Jim Gearhart says. Echoes of "I know you are, but what am I" rang through the capital — drowning out and worthwhile conversation that might have occurred.

The Republicans are the dogs who caught the car, Jim says. For years, they promised to repeal Obamacare and replace it with something better. Now that they power's in their hands, they've got no idea what to do with it.

Not that the Democrats are better, he says.

"Lincoln said, 'A house divided cannot stand.' And we're getting a chance right now to find out how true that might be," Jim says in the latest edition of his new podcast, the Jim Gearhart show.

So who's to blame? Maybe the leaders. Maybe the voters who put them there.

"These are the best cancidates we can come up with? You've got to be kidding," Jim says. "You come up with a bombastic real estate salesman who says, often, dumb things.
And on the other hand, you have an international class grifter, part of a con team who has fooled the world into gaining political power and then selling it for their own riches."

Jim's pretty sure Joe Biden could have won the election, if he ran. And he thinks Bernie Sanders could have beat Trump.

"But the Clintons had the nomination bought, so what are you going to do?

But don't worry — President Trump says all of his plans are great.

"It's like the campaign -- everything's going to be great. There's no details on how it's going to be great."
