Aside from losing weight by a realistic process, you may lower your cholesterol dramatically.

It's called the TLC diet.  "TLC" stands for Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes.  In a study of people with high cholesterol, those who followed the diet saw their cholesterol levels drop by 30 points.  Just so there's no misunderstanding, this diet is not a"magic pill."  On the TLC you will cut back on red meat and fried foods.  You will need to eat more high fiber foods along with fruits and veggies. I don't have to tell you that 99 percent of the diets out there don't work in the long run.  Sure, we may lose 5 or 10 pounds, but eventually we'll gain it back.  This is really a lifestyle change diet.  There are no set menus with the TLC diet.  I think that's a good thing.  With more flexibility on what you can eat, you'll have a better chance for success.  Sample recipies are contained in the TLC website.  I've attached the web site for you, which, by the way, is very comprehensive.  Check it out.  If you decide to go for it, Good Luck!    http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/chol/chol_tlc.pdf
