NEW BRUNSWICK — Authorities have charged the former Rutgers student accused in last week's stabbing of a faculty member and a student Friday afternoon, at the Rutgers Business School in Piscataway.

Joshua S. Thompson, 25, of Mountainside was charged with two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey.

Thompson and those he stabbed remain hospitalized at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, according to Carey, who said Thompson's bail is $1 million. Thompson's injuries were self-inflicted, according to Rutgers Police.

Carey did not reveal a motive for the stabbing or Thompson's relationship to the people he stabbed.
