Ex-School Board Prez Sentenced for Lunch Fraud

TRENTON (AP) - The former president of the Elizabeth School Board will not be going to prison for stealing from the district's free lunch program, but she might end up in the cafeteria.

A judge on Friday sentenced 49-year-old Marie Munn to 3 years probation and 300 hours of community service by assisting with the school lunch program, if possible.

Munn was convicted of theft by deception and tampering with public records.

Prosecutors say Munn understated her household income, which exceeded the limit by as much as $100,000 in one year, by filing false applications for her two children. Her children received $2,649 in benefits.

Munn said she had repaid the school district after learning her children had received free lunches since 2006.
