A 37-year-old former substitute teacher and coach at Red Bank Regional HIgh School has been charged by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office with having inappropriate relations with a 16-year-old girl at his home.

Darnell Lewis faces three counts of second degree Sexual Assault and one count of second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for having sex with the student on at least three different occasions between Dec. 31, 2013 and April, 2014, according to a statement from Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni,

The allegations investigated by the Monmouth County Special Victims Bureau, Red Bank Police and Little Silver Police.

Lewis, who also served as a part-time hall monitor, recently submitted his resignation according to the Prosecutor's Office. He is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institute on $200,000 bail and faces a state prison term of up to 10 years.

The Facebook page features inspirational quotes from Lewis and videos supporting Trayvon Martin. One post says that Lewis' grandmother Matilda "Tillie" Lewis of Red Bank died in September at the age of 83 and was "the greatest supporter of Team IMPACT."
