We all want the booming high definition audio and video system, or speakers in all of the rooms for holiday parties, but may not be able to justify the expense. With a few simple steps, you can save enough on your energy costs to offset the entertainment you want. We've partnered with Bay Technical Design Group to bring you a list of tips that will help you create an energy efficient home while saving money at the same time.

  •  You can save big without being in the dark. Dimming your lights down 20% will not make a big difference in seeing, but you will see the savings. Some dimmers will have an indicator to help you know you’re in the “energy saving zone”, by having a green led.
  • Replacing your current incandescent bulbs with quality LED lighting can save you a bunch. A 9 Watt LED bulb can last up to 20 years saving you money and time!
  • Make sure you change your furnace filter regularly to maintain its efficiency level.
  • Save up to 10% on your heating costs by setting your thermostat to 60 degrees when you sleep or are away and 68 degrees when you are home.

You can combine all of these elements into an easy-to-monitor and use home automation system. There are plenty of good options for onsite and offsite control of your audio, video, lighting, security, and climate control. While some systems charge monthly service fees, you can find some that have an initial cost without having to pay recurring fees.

Thanks to Bay Technical Design Group for providing some easy money-saving tips to implement in your home to make it more energy efficient.
