Elizabeth Police Officer In Punching Video Still On Duty [VIDEO]

Elizabeth Police are conducting an internal investigation into a viral video showing an unidentified officer seemingly punching a woman.

The officer remains on active duty during the investigation. Elizabeth city spokeswoman  Kelly Vence tells the Star Ledger the woman has not contacted police.

The video shows a woman walking away from the fight outside the Envy night club on North Broad Street and putting her arm around the neck of man who had also been fighting.  An officer comes and pushes the  man back down and strikes at the woman; the video ends at that point.

Elizabeth City Councilman described the officer to the Star Ledger as a "good cop" but his actions are "definitely unacceptable."
