Elderly NJ Sisters Scare Off Would-Be Carjacker
Authorities say two elderly New Jersey sisters scared off an armed would-be carjacker by hitting him and screaming.
Hamilton Township police say the women -- ages 93 and 94 -- had been shopping Saturday at a drug store in the Mercer County community. When they got in their car, they found 27-year-old Sergio Fernando Solorzano-Vasquez of Trenton in the back seat, waving a knife in a threatening manner.
The 94-year-old behind the wheel threw her arm back and hit the man while her sister started screaming. The commotion drew the attention of a passer-by who came to the sisters' aid, spurring the suspect to flee.
Solorzano-Vasquez was later captured at a township home and charged with attempted carjacking, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He's being held on $150,000 cash bail.
