Effort Made to Get New NJ Hires to Live in Trenton

An administrator in New Jersey state government is encouraging state employees who work in Trenton to also try living there.Knute Jensen says he moved to Trenton two years ago mostly to shorten his commute. But he tells The Times of Trenton that he has found other benefits as well and thinks more state workers should move to the capital city.

Jensen recently gave a presentation at a city council meeting. He is looking for ways to help change perceptions of Trenton, particularly among new hires.

He is director of the Department of Environmental Protection's solid waste division. He says data show that fewer than 100 of the agency's 2,800 employees live in Trenton.

The Trenton Downtown Association and other groups have expressed interest in supporting Jensen's efforts.
