A handful of New Jersey schools are being forced to deal with and answer questions about Ebola.  In Burlington County, a local family and the school has decided to hold out two students who just moved here from Africa until the Ebola incubation period is over. More schools may have to deal with similar issues in the weeks ahead.

Federal officials have released new guidelines for health care workers taking care of Ebola patients. The most critical part is putting on and removal of personal protective gear. Health workers had been pushing for guidance since two nurses at Texas health Presbyterian hospital in Dallas were infected by a Liberian man who eventually died.

A north Jersey chef is arrested for spitting into a customers food.  It happened at Kennedy's Pub in Mount Olive.  The customer had sent his dish back to the kitchen because it was undercooked...and another staffer saw chef John Stagg spit into it...and called police.  He was arrested for food tampering...but not before the customer ate the food.

An argument over shoes between teen girls at a Camden high school escalated into a brawl and it was all caught on tape.  ABC news reports a 16-year old girl was jumped after class in a park across from the school.  Nine students have been suspended.  Most disturbing is the number of people who again stood by and took video of the savage beating and did not call for help.

 

The football hazing scandal at Sayreville High triggers the launch of a new bill this week that would require certain professions, by law, to report instances of child abuse in New Jersey. No charges have been filed yet against the Sayreville high coaching staff, but they've been suspended from their positions.

A second sighting of a suspected cop killer has come in less than a week in northeastern Pennsylvania. A local law enforcement official reported seeing Eric Frein Monday near the Swiftwater post office in the Pocono mountains. It follows Friday's sighting in the same area in which a woman out for a walk spotted a man whose face was covered with mud carrying a rifle.

It's a problem we keep hearing about all the time, and it keeps getting worse. Cyber-crooks are continuously stealing personal data from companies large and small, in Jersey and across the country. A new survey finds almost half will avoid holiday shopping at retailers affected by recent data security breaches.

New Jersey's League of Municipalities says red light cameras should stay.  Unless the legislature and governor act by December, the cameras will turn off as part of a five year pilot program.  That is not likely to happen.  The league is using questionable data to claim the cameras make intersections safer but the cameras have also been a huge source of revenue for towns.

New Jersey's efforts to legalize sports betting is back in court.  Pro-leagues and the NCAA are asking a judge to stop it.  So far, only Monmouth Park race track has announced they are ready to take your wagers. Governor Christie has repealed the state's laws against it but the leagues argue it still violates federal law.

A Jersey girl had the winning combination for the Frito-Lay "do us a flavor" competition.  Meneko McBeth, a registered nurse from Deptford, came up with the recipe for Wasabi Ginger lays potato chips. In a national taste test she beat out Coffee and Bacon Mac and Cheese chips.  She will now get a million bucks or a year of sales whichever is greater.

Cape May residents are concerned about drones.  Students at the new jersey institute of technology will begin flying their drones next month but say it's all about weather and storm research and they will not be snooping on any homes.  In September, a man shot a drone flying over his home with a shotgun.

International terrorism is a concern but New Jersey's attorney general says they're focusing on the impacts of crime in our backyard.

You think you pay a lot for electric and gas service?  New figures show the failed revel had a utility bill of 1-point-2 million dollars per month! That's one of the big costs that sunk the casino.  They did build their own power plant and analysts say it would have helped in the long run but there was no long run and Revel closed in less than three years.

In recent months the situation in Atlantic City has gone from bad to worse. As gaming profits have dropped, more and more casinos have closed. Several different ideas about how to jump-start ac have been proposed, but a new poll finds most New Jerseyans don't think too much of any of them.

For the second time this year, a person has leaped to their death from a radio tower in Long Branch.  Witnesses say they saw a man climb the 400-foot tower Monday sit there a while and then just step off.  In April, a 60-year old man jumped. Both bodies ended up in a vacant building near the tower.

The more experience a young driver gets behind the wheel, the better off they are according to Cathleen Lewis of AAA New Jersey. Which is also why Lewis says New Jersey should expand its graduated license program to require practice hours for new drivers.
