EDISON — Police are on the lookout for a gunman who shot a 29-year-old man Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Kilmer Homes development.

The victim, who was shot once in the chest, was listed in stable condition at the intensive care unit of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Officials said police were called to Truman Drive about 12:45 a.m. by the victim's wife, who was awakened by her husband's cries for help.

The bleeding victim collapsed inside the couple's home, police said.

Police said they searched the apartment building and surrounding area but turned up nothing more than several shell casings in the street and bullet holes in the victim's car in the parking.

Officials did not release other details about the circumstances of the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Michael Michalski at 732-248-7525.
