U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman says 28-year-old Michal Gunar pleaded guilty Tuesday to hate crime conspiracy and assault charges. He faces up to 15 years in prison when he's sentenced.

Federal authorities say the 28-year-old East Windsor man is a reputed member of a white supremacist group called the Aryan Terror Brigade.

Gunar admitted in federal court in Trenton that he and two other men went to a Sayreville housing complex on New Year's Eve in 2011 with the purpose of assaulting random non-white individuals.

Gunar admitted to brandishing a knife, punching a man and yelling ethnic slurs during an attack on two men.
