And you thought bank hours were inconvenient for customers.

Brick Township Police say a duo attempted to rob a TD Bank on Hooper Avenue only to find it had closed for the day.

On Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m., Detective Daniel Waleski learned of the atteempted robbery, police said. He reyed the information to Officers John Ziobro and Brian Farnkopf, who were on patrol in the area, and who learned a man approached the bank and displayed a handgun, police said.

When the man — later identified as 22-year-old Michael Gibson — tried to get inside, he found the doors were locked, police said.

Gibson then fled on foot toward Hooper Avenue and a dark sedan, which traveled westbound on  Beaverson Boulevard toward Lakewood, police said.

The officers found and stopped the vehicle near Beaverson Boulevard and Shorrock Street, and found it being driven by 20-year-old Sydir Gibson from Stony Hill Road in Eatontown.

Both  were arrested and transported to Brick Police Department for processing.

Michael Gibson was charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and possession of a hand gun. Bail was set at $500,000 with no 10 percent option  by Superior Court Judge Foster. He was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Ocean County Jail, police said.

Sydir Gibson was charged with robbery. His bail was also set at $500,000, and he was also lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

Police did not specify if the two Gibsons were related.
